Syd Barrett's Birth Certificate
Scanned from the fanzine titled Chapter 24, this Birth Certificate shows Syd Barrett's actual name of Roger Keith Barrett and that he was born at home (60 Glisson Road) on the Sixth January 1946. His father being Arthur Max Barrett, and mother Winifred Flack. His birth was registered on the 7th January 1946, the day after he was born, in the district of Cambridge and this copy was drawn up on the 1st June 1969. Special thanks to John Kelly for allowing me to scan this from his original magazine. John is also an Astral Piper member.

MAY 2005
If it was April 1st, I would have just listed these photos, with the catch-phrase "NEW PHOTOS OF SYD BARRETT UNEARTHED". But the next April Fools Day is too far away, so I will have to explain the intriguing images properly for you now.
IS THIS SYD BARRETT WITH LUCIFER SAM THE SIAM CAT?

And these...LOST PHOTOS OF SYD!!!...maybe?

NO...Not quite...but certainly one of the best look-a-likes I have seen!
The almost Syd Barrett clone is Peter Hayes, the lead singer and guitarist from the US band Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Track 2 "Red Eyes and Tears" on their debut 2001 CD, certainly opens sounding like Syd's guitar from Piper...but that's where the similarity ends! The music is quite good, I like these guys, in fact the album is really good all the way through, some really nice sounds going on. Their second album was a bit of a disappointment for me however. Anyway here are a few more shots to convince you further of Peter the Barrett ringer!...or is it just me who thinks there is an uncanny similarity?

EVEN SIDE ON AT THE MIC...HE...???

VERY WETHERBY MANSIONS, MADCAP SHOOT LOOKING?

You cannot tell me this doesn't look like Mr Barrett?

For anyone interested in my crazed ramblings, here is the debut BRMC CD cover.
Its not just me...He looks like Syd doesn't he?
