Roger Keith (Syd) Barrett - 6th January 1946 to 7th July 2006

Site last updated on Tuesday 20th February 2007

This site was Officially born onto the world wide web on Sunday April 3rd 2005

SINCE THEN THE BARRETTOMETER BELOW, TELLS US WE HAVE HAD THIS MANY NEW VISITORS

Well respected London Newspaper The Guardian recommends Astral Piper - The New Syd Barrett Appreciation Society as the number one Syd Barrett site to visit, describing it as "Breathless". Thanks to the Guardian's Arts Reporter Louise Radnofsky for placing us at the top of her roundup of Barrett sites to visit on the world wide web.

This is a mirror of the mythical Astral Piper website that, for the first time in history, managed to assemble Syd Barrett fans from all over the globe. Some dinosaurs will remember there has been some controversy at a certain point, leading to the sudden disappearance of the very active forum and - later - of the website itself.

Although attempts had been made to allow the continuity of the Astral Piper website this never happened, some wounds had been cut too deep apparently.

The website mirrored here has been reconstituted from a backup of the original, but I preferred adding a 'Redux 2013' suffix. Links and images all had to be updated and obviously I couldn't resist adding a few comments and Holy Church of Iggy the Inuit links here and there, but not a single letter has been changed from its original contents. Links inside articles may be broken as they are pointing to pages that do not longer exist.

This website truly has some gems that I rediscovered while working on the files and it would have been a shame to see these disappear forever. Old quarrels or not, I think it is valid to have this site back online. Besides, if even Roger Waters and David Gilmour could put their disputes away, why not we?
